About me

I am glad you are here.

My name is Randle Brooks. Born and raised in Texas, I have transitioned to a fulfilling life in Colorado. When I am not working, you may find me cooking, baking sourdough creations, attending a hot yoga class, or bothering my chickens.

A little backstory: I received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. I am a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) and spent several years working with children and adults in home health, senior care, inpatient and outpatient settings, school settings, and private practice. I made the decision to pursue another master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have experience providing mental health therapy to college students at a campus counseling clinic, as well as teens and adults in a group private practice. I am now working under my own practice, Brooks Counseling & Wellness, LLC.

I help teens and adults who are seeking to strengthen their connection to self and build confidence, self esteem, and resilience. I acknowledge the effects of trauma on the brain and body, including how it impacts the way we view ourselves and move through our world. My goal is to create a safe space for you to explore and get curious about your own healing journey. I walk with you, allowing you to explore what works for you so that you can take tangible skills and knowledge outside of the therapy room for lasting success.

My Approach

I have a strong passion for holistic living and the mind/body connection, personally and professionally. Actively practicing a variety of forms of yoga for 7 years has taught me about the inherent wisdom that our bodies carry. I work with the body and mind together in my practice as a therapist.

In my integrative and trauma-informed therapy practice, I utilize a variety of methods and techniques. This includes somatic (body-based) interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) interventions, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and person-centered therapy. I also recognize the power of Polyvagal Theory and lifestyle changes to create a flexible and adaptable nervous system.

Population

I work with teens, college students, and young adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self esteem issues, self harm, and body image issues.

I work with Durango residents as well as anyone in the state of Colorado. I offer both in-person and telehealth therapy sessions. See my rates here.

 FAQs

  • I am passionate about providing therapy for individuals regardless of socioeconomic status. I accept some forms of Medicaid and offer a sliding scale based on income. I offer sessions on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis depending on what works best for you.

  • This happens! It is a natural part of the therapy process. I am happy to provide referrals for other providers.

  • I am not able to prescribe any medications or make any medical recommendations; however, I acknowledge the importance of working with providers as a team approach. I am happy to make referrals or work with other providers on your medical team as necessary.

  • I have seen tremendous growth and progress with clients. I deeply believe in the therapy process. With that said, it is not a magical cure, and a therapist is not a magical healer. Therapy takes a lot of effort, time, patience, and a dedication to showing up for yourself.
